ACTCEL IN OB/GYN PROCEDURES
ActCel hemostatic gauze can be used in various obstetric and gynecological procedures. Following a LEEP procedure, the ActCel hemostatic gauze leaves only a minor odorless serous discharge whereas other stop bleeding products, such as Monsel's solution, can create an undesirable odor and brown discharge. Because ActCel is so easy to use and produces such high-quality results, the ActCel stop-bleeding product is widely accepted by patients and it results in fewer post-operative issues.
CAN BE USED FOR:
LEEP Procedures
Cervical Biopsies
Cervical conization
...and other various procedures
ActCel hemostatic gauze, created from regenerated cellulose, is an effective hemostatic agent. Upon contact with blood, ActCel gauze instantly converts to a collagen like gel which expands to cause direct pressure on blood vessels and control bleeding. Hemostatic Gauze is water-soluble and the gel can be removed easily when water, saline or hydrogen peroxide is applied.
Patients on medications that increase bleeding:
Aspirin, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, anticancer
medication, broad-spectrum antibiotics
Patients with bleeding disorders:
Sclerosis of the liver, hemophilia, Von Willebrand’s
disease, thrombocytopenia, disseminated intravascular
coagulation, hypoprothrombinemia
